The Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo
(FUNAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African
Climate Change Adaptation Initiative (ACCAI) for
close collaboration. The Vice chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba and the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel O. Chukwu, signed on behalf of FUNAI while the director, Prof. Ifeyinwa Ajike initialled on behalf of the continental body.

Speaking
after the signing ceremony, Professor Ajike said the body in conjunction
with Open Society Foundation (OSF) conduct research and training on
climate and climate change, food security, flooding adding that FUNAI
having entered into agreement with the body will benefit from all its
programmes.
She listed
the six African universities participating in the programme to include
University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Ghana, Mekelle University
Ethiopia, University of Witwatersrand Johannesburg, University of
Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania, and the University of Stellenbosch South Africa.
She
expressed satisfaction with the leadership of FUNAI under Professor
Nwajiuba for being research conscious and for keying in into the
programme and assured them of enormous benefits.
In his own
remarks, the Vice Chancellor of FUNAI, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, said
the University placed premium on the core mandate of the institution,
research and teaching in order to emerge as a world class university.
Prof.
Nwajiuba said ACCAI was a credible organisation and that it was for that
reason the University was partnering with it by signing the Memorandum
of Understanding and assured of his support.
